Back-EMF Calculator

A spinning DC motor's armature also acts as a generator, producing a back-EMF that opposes the applied voltage: either from the motor's voltage constant, E = Kb·ω, or measured indirectly from terminal voltage minus the armature's resistive drop, E = V − I·Ra.

Ra E V, I
Terminal voltage V drives current I through the armature resistance Ra and against the back-EMF E.
