— Zener Voltage Regulator

Series resistor for a simple zener shunt regulator, R_s = (V_in − V_z)/(I_z + I_load). Also reports the resistor and zener power dissipation for rating purposes.

Rs drops the excess voltage; the zener holds the load at Vz as long as it stays reverse-biased in breakdown.
